She then spent 2 years working as a Research Coordinator at Temple University. We are so excited to have you, Sabrina!

Our junior specialist, Alix, has moved on from the lab. She will be pursuing her MPH at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. We will miss you, Alix. Good luck!

September 2021

We are pleased to announce the arrival of our new Ph.D candidate to the Memory and Development Lab. Nick Christopher-Hayes completed his undergraduate studies in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 2015. He has since spent several years working as a Research Assistant, Clinical Research Associate, and MEG Research Associate at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Department of Psychology and at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Department of Neurological Sciences. We’re so glad to have you join our team, Nick!

We are excited to announce the addition of a second Junior Specialist to our lab! Jasmeen recently graduated UC Davis in June 2021 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Neuroscience. She has been in the lab for 2 years now working as one of our research assistants before taking over as Senior Research Assistant. She will be working on our Hippocamp study as we get it up and running again after a long hiatus due to the pandemic. Congratulations, Jasmeen!

One of our graduate students, Lindsey Mooney, was awarded the NIH f31 National Research Service Award (NRSA) Predoctoral Fellowship for her project titled: Neurocognitive Mechanisms underlying Episodic Memory Functioning in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We are excited to announce our new Junior Specialist! Alix has been in the lab for 2 years now, starting as one of our research assistants before becoming our Senior Research Assistant in the lab. She graduated from UC Davis in June 2020 with a degree in Human Development and a minor in Psychology. She is excited for the opportunity to start on our new Type 1 Diabetes project based at the UC Davis Medical Center. Welcome, Alix!

Aidan Sandhoefner and Kelsey Davinson, our junior specialists for the past year, are moving on from the lab. Aidan has a position as an English teacher in Spain, he will be a fantastic teacher and we are so excited to see his travels and professional progress! Kelsey is attending the University of Connecticut to attain her PhD in Psychology where she will continue researching memory development. Best of luck Aidan and Kelsey!

Elliott Johnson, our lab’s senior graduate student, just received a position as a Post-Doctoral Scholar at Temple University! He will be working with Dr. Nora Newcombe and Dr. Ingrid Olson studying the neural correlates of memory and memory consolidation in early and middle childhood. Congratulations Elliott!

We are excited to announce two new Junior Specialists working in the lab this year. Kelsey Davinson has been with our lab for 3 years already, starting as a research assistant and then experimenter, she is now ready to manage the lab and help complete a few on-going projects! Kelsey graduated from UC Davis in June 2019 with degrees in Cognitive Science and Psychology. Aidan Sandhoefner has been in the Ghetti lab for over a year and completed a senior thesis in the lab, receiving highest honors on his research focusing on how parent’s mental state language relates to children’s language abilities. Aidan graduated from UC Davis in June of 2019 with a degree in Cognitive Science. Please help us welcome Kelsey and Aidan!

Alireza Kazemi comes to us from Iran, where he completed his undergraduate studies at Shahid Beheshti University in Electronic Engineering, and earned a Masters degree at the University of Tehran in Biomedical Engineering. Lindsey Mooney completed her undergraduate studies at Xavier University, and spent 1.5 years as a Research Coordinator in the Behavioral and Developmental Neuropsychiatry Lab at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Please join us in welcoming our new Junior Specialist, Ethan Fox. Ethan completed his undergraduate studies at UC Davis, graduating with degrees in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior and Psychology. Ethan previously spent 2 years in the Memory and Development Lab as an undergraduate Research Assistant and recently completed an Honors Thesis under the guidance of Dr. Ghetti.

 

October 2015

We are pleased to announce that Emily Hembacher has completed her graduate studies here at UC Davis and has taken a position as a Post-Doctoral Scholar at Stanford University! Emily is working on projects investigating how children’s uncertainty monitoring interacts with their learning and decision-making, particularly in the domain of language. She is also investigating how parents’ understanding of cognitive development interacts with children’s learning.

 

September 2015

We have recently said goodbye as one of our Junior Specialists, Lauren Hunter, has left the lab to pursue a Masters in Public Health at UC Berkeley. We wish her all the best! Another of our former Junior Specialists, Marcos Sastre, has begun graduate school at Columbia University. Congratulations to both Marcos and Lauren!

We also welcome a new Junior Specialist to our lab, Sarah Leckey! Sarah graduated from UC Davis in June 2015 after working in our lab as an undergraduate Research Assistant for over a year. She is excited to begin working full-time in our lab!

 

August 2014

This month, we welcomed two new researchers to our lab! Dr. Janani Prabhakar comes to the MaD Lab after completing her Ph.D. at Rutgers University. She plans to investigate future-oriented behavior in early childhood. Elliott Johnson joins our lab as a graduate student after completing his BA in Psychology at Carleton College.

We also say goodbye to two Junior Specialists who have spent years at work on the H.I.P.P.O. study. Jacqueline Pospisil is beginning a Ph.D. program in Developmental Psychology at the University of Washington, while Marcos Sastre III is off to pursue new opportunities in San Francisco. We wish you the best, and we will miss you both!

Congratulations to Julia Ross, one of our Junior Specialists, who will be leaving the Memory and Development Lab to start her first year of medical school at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute in Roanoke, Virginia. Good luck, Julia, and thank you for three wonderful years!

Please join us in welcoming our two newest researchers, Junior Specialists Peter Desautels and Lauren Hunter. Peter is joining us soon after graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior (as well as having just finished an Honors Thesis in the Memory and Development Lab).
